  • Site of 1994 genocide where an estimated 1,000,000 (one million) people were slaughtered in less than 100 days.
  • UNICEF says that – One of the greatest challenges facing Rwanda today is how to care for its massive population of orphans
  • It is estimated that there are more than one-million orphans in the country of Rwanda
  • Over 100,000 children are the PRIMARY caregivers in more than 42,000 home.
  • The scars of the genocide are deep in the consciousness of these orphans.

Church of God in Rwanda

  • Church of God suffered greatly during the genocide
  • Some who are pastors today saw their entire family slaughtered
  • Corruption within the church further destroyed the church
  • However new leadership has arisen and the Church of God is growing again
  • There are only 11 Church of God congregations in a nation of million people

YWEA - Project Rwanda

    • Establish a national headquarters church in Kigali
    • Build a Orphans & Vulnerable Children Center
    • Provide Vocational Training to widows and orphans
